Pambil palm (Iriartea corneto) is one of the grandest palms in South America. It is a canopy tree that can grow 67-115 meters high, but at the bottom appears much like a walking tree, beacause of it's stilt roots. The wood is used for constructing the Quichua houses and the leaves are woven into roofs. The hard seed is eaten by a few animals, who thus spread widely.
The seeds are collected and coloured in Equador.
